Subscription Information

Why do I need a subscription to use the HomeSafe® Smart Tracker?

The Smart Tracker relies on Bluetooth and GPS connectivity to transmit device location. Like a cell phone or any GPS-enabled device, it relies on a data connection when Bluetooth is not in range to determine the dog's position. This is why the HomeSafe® Smart Tracker requires an annual subscription as there is a recurring cost to utilize network providers and cellular carriers.

About the Device

How does the Smart Tracker compare to an Air Tag or Tile device?

Let's be clear, Air Tags and Tile products are positioned and marketed as “item finders” and are not intended to be used to track “living things”. An Air Tag relies on the iPhone network to connect and transmit location via Bluetooth which means an iPhone needs to be nearby at all times to consistently report on position. The reality is that in a situation where your furry friend is lost, they aren't likely to be hanging out at the neighborhood coffee shop where lots of iPhone users are nearby - meaning you will undoubtedly encounter a circumstance where the device is out of range. Beyond that, an Air Tag or Tile device definitely won't provide you with in-depth insights into your pup's health and activity.

How do I know if the Smart Tracker is right for my pet?

The HomeSafe® Smart Tracker provides valuable data and insights regarding your pet's location, health, and activity levels - a great asset for any pet. If you worry about your dog getting out or wonder about their activity rates and/or health indicators, you will certainly find peace of mind with the help of the Smart Tracker. It's a wonderful resource for self-proclaimed “data geeks” and those pet parents who are always wishing their dog could talk. It may not be the best option for those living in remote areas with poor cellular connectivity or for those who don't consider themselves to be at all tech-savvy.

Device Capabilities

Does the Smart Tracker work if there is no data (LTE-M) connection?

The HomeSafe® Smart Tracker uses Bluetooth connection and GPS connectivity via the LTE-M network to provide location services. When there is no nearby permissible Bluetooth connection, the device will instead seek connectivity via GPS, however, if there is poor or nonexistent LTE-M connection (cell service) available, the device's location will not be able to be obtained. Once the device is able to reconnect, the dog's location will be transmitted. This is an important consideration if you reside in an area with poor service as the device will not be as effective and battery life will be impacted as the device continues searching for a connection.

The best GPS and health tracker app I've used for my 11 year old Golden. I especially like the daily reports that break down her activity levels for the day, these reports motivate me to be a better pet parent by keeping her activity levels consistent or sort of "beating the high score" from the day before. Keeps me accountable for making sure she has the best day possible, which she deserves!

Such an incredible tool!
I have used a lot of other pet trackers available on the market and the HomeSafe® tracker from DocuPet has been by far my best experience. I love how it attaches to my dogs' collars and the battery life is incredible - it lasts for 2-3 weeks no problem! The app shows me not only where my dogs are at all times and if they leave the specified “virtual fence” area, but also all of these amazing insights about their heart and respiratory rates and activity levels. There's something so reassuring about the fact that I will know if anything with their heart or breathing changes. I also love seeing how much time they spend being active and know the days I need to step it up as a pet parent. I don't like seeing how much time they spend barking though - eek. All in all this is an incredible tool that I am so grateful for and I think my dog's are living happier lives because of it!

Peace of Mind
I can be a little over sensitive when it comes to my dogs health. However, after getting my DocuPet HomeSafe® tracker my mind has been put to ease a little more lately! Being able to see and monitor my dogs health stats has been extremely beneficial and assured me my dogs vitals are at normal levels to prevent me from going into panic mode. The ability for me to also send vet reports directly to my vet has been extremely helpful to keep her records up to date and so that my vet can see where her average levels have been at. Can't recommend this device and app enough for all pet parents!

I love this tracker. It seems to be very accurate. I have peace of mind now with the tracker is on by Luna belle. After having the tracker for a while I still love it. The one negative response I have is the battery life. It said in your ad 30-day battery life. I get maybe two weeks battery life. So I have to take off my dog's collar to charge it. Then the app tells me that I should have it on my dog longer but I can't help it because I have to charge it.

Tracker does as described. Has helped me tremendously with knowing more about my pets health and keeping an eye on him when we're indoors and he's in the backyard. It's an extra step of security.

Love being able to keep track of my pups while they are on their walks with our walkers, we like it to follow similar routes when walking them on our own! Love the stats and comparisons to other pups similar in age and breed to make sure we are staying healthy!

This app and tracker is great and definitely a gave us piece of mind when our dog had an emergency. On a Saturday afternoon, or dog was bitten by a rattlesnake. As we were driving to the emergency veterinary clinic about 60 miles from our house, we were able to see her heart rate and respiratory rate and knew she was stable. Even better, we were able to generate a report of her heart/respiratory rates and send it to the vet clinic while in route. When we got to the clinic, they had a snapshot of her current status. I'm happy to report that she was able to get the treatment she needed. This tracker and app is a must have for all pet owners!
