For over 125 years, the British Columbia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (BC SPCA) has stood as a beacon of hope for animals. Our journey, fueled by compassion and care, has led us to establish life-saving programs like the BC Pet Registry, British Columbia's exclusive provincial pet ID database and a cornerstone of our Pet Lovers Community.
The mission of the British Columbia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (BC SPCA) is protecting vulnerable animals and mobilizing communities so animals and people thrive together.
The BC SPCA is the only animal welfare organization in B.C. with the authority to enforce animal cruelty laws under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act (PCA Act). We are the largest animal welfare organization of our kind in North America and the largest animal sheltering society in the world. Locations for the BC SPCA include:
Animal centres which care for abused and homeless animals, until they are adopted into new homes.
Animals assisted annually. We are funded by compassionate supporters who help enhance the quality of life for domestic, farm, and wild animals in B.C.
In the heart of every community, there's a special bond that unites us all - our love for pets. At the BC Pet Registry, we're proud to collaborate with veterinary clinics and shelters across Canada, forming a network of care and safety. Together, we're dedicated to reuniting lost pets with their families, turning anxious searches into joyful reunions.
As a pet owner, you're part of this incredible journey. By microchipping and registering your pets with the BC Pet Registry at any of our participating veterinary clinics, you're not just ensuring their safety; you're strengthening our Pet Lovers Community.
